Job summary

Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, seeks a Groundskeeper I to join the Facilities Management – Grounds and Landscaping team. You will maintain campus zones, perform mowing, irrigation, seeding, and pruning, and assist with snow removal as needed.

This role requires a GED and PA pesticide license or ability to obtain, plus a PA Class B CDL and forklift certification. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of relevant experience and are able to work with student labor under supervision.

Qualifications

• Diploma GED is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Horticulture or landscaping contracting preferred.
• PA Commercial Pesticide Applicator License Cat 23 Parks/Schools Pest Control or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• PA Class B CDL required.
• Forklift Operator certification required.
• 1–3 years of work experience in groundskeeping preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains individual campus zones including mowing, fertilizing, seeding, aerating, pruning, planting, and leaf collection.
• Monitors trash and recycling receptacles; ensures clean, safe pedestrian areas and monitors storm drains.
• Performs pesticide applications and maintains a pesticide log; attends safety trainings as required.
• Operates grounds equipment safely and conducts routine maintenance/repairs.
• Assists grounds lead and student labor in supervising and training on maintenance and landscaping tasks.
• Works with the team to remove snow from sidewalks, parking lots, and steps; reports to work during emergencies.
