Job summary

Furman University is seeking a Groundskeeper responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, and functionality of campus grounds, including landscaping, turf, and irrigation. You will mow, edge, prune, mulch, and assist with storm drainage, snow/ice removal, and upkeep of walkways, parking lots, and water features.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 1–2 years of groundskeeping experience, and a valid South Carolina driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of groundskeeping experience.
• Valid South Carolina driver's license.
• Ability to read and understand instructions for equipment operation, chemicals, and materials.
• Experience operating grounds maintenance tools and equipment.
• Horticulture degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Mow, edge, and trim campus lawns using mower equipment and hand tools.
• Operate weed eaters, edgers, clippers, and blowers.
• Perform aeration, seeding, fertilizing, and irrigation of turf areas.
• Prune and trim shrubs, flowers, and trees with appropriate tools.
• Maintain sidewalks, parking lots, and drainage; remove debris.
• Assist with snow and ice removal and safety procedures.
