Job summary

College of Charleston in Charleston, SC is seeking a Grounds Maintenance worker to keep the campus and remote sites well kept. Responsibilities include mowing, fertilizing, mulching, pruning and bed renovations, as well as planting container gardens and maintaining flower beds.

The role requires knowledge of landscape plants and irrigation, the ability to operate a range of landscape equipment, and basic computer skills including email. A valid SC driver's license is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and ability to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge of landscaping plants and irrigation systems is helpful.
• Must be able to operate a variety of landscape equipment (mowers, weed eaters, edgers, blowers, shears, chainsaws, etc.).
• Basic computer skills and working knowledge of e-mail; familiarity with Microsoft Office.
• Preferred: valid SC driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the grounds of a college campus, including remote locations and athletic facilities, through mowing, fertilizing, mulching, pruning, weeding, and bed renovations.
• Plant and maintain container gardens and flower beds, including installation, fertilization, deadheading, transplanting and watering.
• Assist in upkeep of College vehicles and power equipment; drive to various campuses as needed.
• Respond to work orders promptly and document actions using mobile devices.
