Job summary

The University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, CT is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain and improve the 100-acre campus grounds using hand and power tools. The role involves lawn care, pruning, snow removal, and landscape work performed independently or with a team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience operating lawn and grounds equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of lawn, garden and flower bed maintenance.
• Snowplowing experience preferred.
• OSHA 10 or higher training helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Mows lawns and trims grass around walks, flower beds, trees and walls.
• Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and encourage growth.
• Removes leaves, branches and debris with mowers, tractors and hand tools.
• Maintains flower beds, mulch beds, and decorative vegetation.
• Performs routine maintenance and sharpening of grounds equipment and tools.
• May assist in snow removal and salting of walkways during storms.
