Job summary

St. Joseph School District is seeking a Grounds Maintenance worker to care for school grounds and operate motorized equipment under the direction of the Director of Maintenance and Operations.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, ability to lift 50 pounds, a valid driver’s license, and the willingness to pass background checks and drug screening. You’ll join a team dedicated to safe, clean, and well-kept campuses in varied weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and be physically able to perform job duties.
• Able to lift 50 pounds or more, have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Successful completion of a background check, physical capacity assessment, and drug screen prior to start date.
• Preferred: good planning and organizational skills; computer skills helpful.

Responsibilities

• Attend work regularly and punctually under the supervision of the Trades Supervisor.
• Maintain the grounds and operate power equipment such as tractors, forklifts, jack hammers, and chainsaws.
• Safeguard district property and respond to emergencies, including after-hours as needed.
• Perform grounds projects like mowing, seeding, chemical applications, asphalt work, tree trimming, fencing, and more.
• Assist with snow removal and report maintenance needs for equipment assigned.
