Job summary

The University of Iowa is seeking a Groundskeeper I to support Groundskeeper II and the Landscape Services team on campus. You will maintain assigned areas, assist with snow removal, and operate a variety of equipment and tools.

Qualified candidates will have at least one year of groundskeeping experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards. This is an on-campus, full-time role with potential overtime in winter and a strong emphasis on teamwork.

Qualifications

• One year of experience operating machinery and tools used in groundskeeping, or an equivalent combination of related experience and education totaling one year.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
• Two or more years of prior groundskeeping experience is desirable.
• Experience operating snow/ice removal equipment.
• Class A or B CDL with Air Brakes.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic computer experience.
• Preventative maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Professional experience working with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain assigned campus areas per Landscape Services plan.
• Perform snow removal using designated equipment (sander, snowblower, etc.).
• Assist other crews and operate vehicles, mowers, and attachments.
• Coordinate and review work with supervisor and team.
• Perform minor repairs and routine service on equipment.
• Work Monday–Friday 6:00 am–2:30 pm; may require overtime for operations.
• Position is onsite across campus, with potential shifts during winter.
