Job summary

UC Santa Cruz is seeking a Groundskeeper in the Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) team at the Main Campus to maintain parking lots, bike paths, transit shelters, and landscaped areas. The role includes painting, vegetation control, stormwater cleaning, and supporting other TAPS departments during events and emergencies.

Benefits include full eligibility for benefits. This is a career appointment with 100% time, driving required, and several safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience and skills in grounds and/or lot maintenance.
• Experience and/or skills in safely using hand or power tools and equipment (hedge trimmers, weed eaters, mowers, etc.).
• Experience using sound judgment to solve problems.
• Good interpersonal skills to interact with the campus community.
• Computer skills to operate databases, spreadsheets, timecard software, and UCPath.
• Ability to work in a team and support coworkers and student staff.
• Ability to safely drive a University vehicle.
• Ability to identify/correct hazards and report safety concerns.
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions; demonstrate mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair TAPS assets including parking lots, roads, walkways, bike paths, and transit shelters to keep them clean and safe.
• Maintain Trugrid surfaces and patch/repair as needed.
• Paint parking lot lines, curbs, markings, and signs; remove graffiti.
• Maintain bike paths, racks, and landscaping; report hazards.
• Provide regular condition updates to supervisor and supervise student workers.
• Assist other TAPS departments with site support and labor as needed.
