Job summary

Northeast State Community College in Blountville, TN is seeking a Grounds Technician to maintain college grounds and assist with equipment maintenance across campus facilities.

The role involves physical labor, operating lawn and maintenance equipment, following safety procedures, and assisting in various grounds tasks at multiple campus sites. Working hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Mix soils in proportions for proper plant growth and drainage.
• Determine pruning needs for plants, shrubs, and trees; apply correct pruning techniques.
• Inspect plants for diseases and pests; determine treatment procedures.
• Mix and apply herbicides, insecticides, and fertilizers.
• Cultivate and maintain flower beds.
• Maintain grounds, streets, and sidewalks by mowing, debris removal, and painting markings.
• Assist in snow removal from parking lots and sidewalks.
• Trim, rake, edge, weed and perform related tasks on campus properties.
• Operate tractors, mowers, and weed eaters safely in performing duties.
• Construct new sidewalk areas; repair and paint outdoor fixtures.
• Assist with fleet and custodial equipment maintenance and recycling.
