Job summary

GRAND CANYON UNIVERSITY in Phoenix, AZ seeks a diligent Groundskeeper to perform seasonal grounds duties and maintain campus beautification. You will operate mowing equipment, trimmers, vacuums, and related tools while keeping outdoor areas clean and safe.

The role requires the ability to work in extreme desert heat, lift heavy materials, and pass a background check; prior grounds maintenance experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous commercial grounds maintenance/lawn care experience.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform seasonal grounds duties as directed.
• Operate mowing, blowers, vacuums, trimmers, and related equipment.
• Maintain beautification and cleanliness; inspect grounds for needed maintenance.
• Plant, prune shrubs, trees, and ground cover; assist irrigation duties.
• Assist in parking lot maintenance and minor masonry work.
• Load/unload dirt, timber, gravel and related materials; haul as needed.
• Operate landscaping vehicles as required.
• Apply fertilizers and herbicides; follow safety procedures.
• Dig and transplant vegetation as specified.
• May perform repair work on stone walls and sidewalks.
• Work in extreme desert heat; comply with safety rules.
