Job summary

Jackson State Community College is seeking a Grounds Worker to perform maintenance and improvements of campus grounds, landscaping, streets and walks under the Grounds Manager.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 1+ years of experience; experience with grounds maintenance is preferred. You will operate lawn equipment, assist with snow and weather-related cleanup, and help with freight, office moves and event setups.

Responsibilities

• Maintain campus grounds including mowing, trimming, pruning, weeding, and debris removal.
• Operate commercial lawn equipment such as mowers, tractors, backhoes, and forklifts.
• Maintain streets, parking lots, walks, and assist with traffic signs and ponds.
• Mulch plantings and apply herbicides, insecticides, and fertilizers under supervision.
• Assist with freight delivery, office moves, and event setups.
• Respond to weather emergencies like snow removal.
