Job summary

University of New England is seeking a Grounds & Landscaping Operations Supervisor for the Biddeford Campus to oversee all aspects of grounds operations, including landscaping, snow removal, irrigation, and safety. You will manage a team of about eight staff, coordinate with Facilities and Athletics, and support sustainability initiatives across 250 acres.

Qualifications

• Five years of progressively responsible grounds maintenance, landscaping, or related experience.
• Experience managing 20+ acres of landscaped grounds or equivalent property.
• Experience developing budgets and tracking costs for grounds operations and materials.
• Proficiency with commercial landscaping and snow removal equipment.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems and IPM, sustainable practices.
• Supervising 8–10 employees with annual reviews and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily, seasonal, and event grounds operations.
• Develop and manage work schedules and quality standards.
• Lead planning meetings and set priorities.
• Develop seasonal staffing plans and labor allocation.
• Oversee irrigation programming, troubleshooting, and seasonal startup/shutdown.
• Lead snow and ice management planning and response.
• Oversee CMMS work orders and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure grounds fleet readiness and maintenance.
• Evaluate contractor performance and outsourcing decisions.
• Collaborate with Facilities, Athletics, and Events staff.
