Job summary

Ferrum College is seeking a Grounds Enhancement Manager to lead care, maintenance, and continual improvement of campus grounds and athletic facilities. You will supervise Grounds Technicians and student workers, develop maintenance plans, manage equipment and budgets, and work with Athletics and Physical Plant leadership to create safe, attractive outdoor spaces.

The position requires 3–5 years of grounds experience, a Virginia driver’s license, and a commitment to sustainable, high‑quality

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of progressive grounds maintenance experience.
• Experience leading or supervising grounds staff.
• Knowledge of horticulture, irrigation, turf management, and landscape equipment.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage day-to-day operations.
• Valid Virginia driver's license and ability to work outdoors in varied weather.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and events as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily grounds and landscape operations across campus.
• Develop and implement maintenance plans and safety standards.
• Oversee athletic fields and facilities maintenance.
• Manage budgets, equipment, and procurement.
• Coordinate with Athletics and Physical Plant leadership on projects.
• Mentor and supervise Grounds Technicians and student workers.
