Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Zone Manager to lead campus facilities operations, oversee shop mechanics, and manage renewal-type projects from concept to completion.

You will coordinate with leadership, union labor, and contractors while ensuring fiscal value and customer satisfaction across the zone. The role involves managing capital and expense projects, bid documentation, and interfacing with building representatives to promote continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
• Master’s degree preferred for this position.
• 2+ years of facilities-related supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and account for use of staff, materials, inventory, budget, etc. within the zone manager’s authority for best value to the University.
• Manage maintenance work orders using CMMS and oversee bid documentation and project accounting.
• Coordinate with campus stakeholders on facility issues and identify capital projects and bid documentation.
• Support campus events and ensure safety and accident prevention in line with policy.
• Ensure availability of safe tools and testing equipment; train crews as needed.
• Observe and communicate facilities-related issues to appropriate representatives and contractors.
