Job summary

St. Andrew’s School is seeking a General Maintenance Mechanic to join the Facilities Department. The role performs preventative maintenance and repairs for structures, systems, and equipment to keep the campus safe and functional.

Under general supervision, the maintenance mechanic will handle plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and restoration tasks on campus, and will be trained to operate heavy equipment such as loaders, tractors, and excavators. Join a mission-driven team on a 2,200-acre campus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as work requests, instructions, drawings, schematics, and procedures.
• Basic computer and typing skills are required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and emergency maintenance and repairs throughout the campus facilities.
• Interprets, prioritizes, and completes work orders as assigned.
• Uses various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects and is responsible for the safekeeping of these tools and equipment.
• Ensures the accuracy of work by checking completed projects and correcting problems as needed.
• Adheres to local building and safety codes and guidelines.
• Performs routine repairs and preventative maintenance to campus electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Follows safe working practices at all times and requests additional personnel or equipment when a task requires it.
• Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
• Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician.
• Assists with upkeep of campus grounds, athletic fields, housekeeping, and set-ups/teardowns.
• May load trucks and feed bins with various aggregate material and may move earth or other material.
• Ensures safety, compliance, and environmental requirements are followed at all times.
