Job summary

Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH seeks a Maintenance Generalist (Part-Time) to serve as a primary contact for campus facility needs, handling event setup, furniture moves, and preventive maintenance across the main campus and off-site events. The role includes maintaining buildings and equipment to ensure facilities are in good repair.

The hourly pay rate is $20.43 with a maximum of 28 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in painting, wall coverings, finishing wood surfaces, carpeting, ceiling frame, tile replacement, and general carpentry preferred.
• Maintenance of proper OSHA regulations and college procedures for disposal of hazardous chemicals preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot flaws, work orders, equipment, classroom furniture, and theater seating required.
• Basic skills of all buildings and maintenance trades required.
• Self starter, capable of working alone or to supervise students and other available personnel required.
• Ability to draw diagrams for specific events, either using software or by hand, so clients are able to visualize what will fit in the rooms, and what will not required.
• Ability to communicate with clients, via phone, e-mail, or face to face meetings to help them decide how to make events successful required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain communication with department personnel regarding specifics for delivery and pick up of equipment for events.
• Create and modify event floor plans using software provided by the conference center to support event setup and facility needs.
• Keep records of equipment issued and inventory of equipment on hand to accomplish mission.
• Supervise schedule to set up and pick up equipment and furniture for special events and for special needs students.
• Repair, clean, and paint drywall and plaster with eco-friendly products.
• Repaint doors, frames, and furniture touchup.
• Repair/replace worn, damaged, and dangerous carpet.
• Repair/replace damaged and dirty ceiling tiles and grid.
• Hang bulletin boards, pictures, wall racks, and other minor carpentry duties.
• Respond immediately to and remove graffiti throughout campus.
• Tuckpoint and maintain smooth, visually pleasing masonry surfaces.
