University of Michigan is seeking a Custodian II to support Facilities and Operations in Ann Arbor. The role involves cleaning, operating custodial equipment, and performing routine maintenance tasks across indoor spaces and entryways.

The position operates under the AFSCME bargaining agreement. The successful candidate will meet education requirements, communicate effectively, maintain a positive customer-focused attitude, and be capable of prioritizing workload while complying with UM vehicle

Qualifications

Must have a High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to effectively communicate in various formats and follow instructions.
Must have a positive attitude with good customer relation skills.
Must be able to prioritize work.
Ability to meet the requirements of operating a UM vehicle.

Responsibilities

Clean assigned work areas including restrooms, grounds, and public areas.
Operate custodial equipment including vacuums, carpet cleaners, floor scrubbers, and power washers.
Spot wash walls, doors, windows, and mirrors in high and low locations.
Dust light fixtures, vents, vertical surfaces, and wash windows in hard-to-reach areas.
Empty trash containers up to 50lbs.
Sweep and wet mop floors and stairways; move furniture up to 50lbs.
Report items in need of repair.
Remove snow and ice from entry ways.
