Job summary

University of Connecticut is seeking two full‑time Custodian positions at the Storrs Campus. The roles cover 1st‑shift schedules: Wednesday–Sunday 7:00 AM–3:00 PM or Saturday–Wednesday 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, totaling 37.5 hours weekly.

• Minimum Qualifications: Any experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.

Responsibilities

• Maintain various facilities such as dormitories, classrooms, offices, auditoriums, kitchens, dining rooms, and outdoor areas; perform custodial tasks and maintenance.
• Dust, mop, sweep, scrub, strip, wax, and polish floors using equipment such as floor polishers and buffers.
• Wash, dust and polish glass, windows, woodwork, walls, furniture and metal equipment.
• Make beds; check, mark, store and issue linens, blankets, and clothing.
• Collect and count soiled laundry.
• Distribute, empty and sterilize glassware, wash basins and bedpans.
• Sweep walkways; collect and dispose of trash.
• Report repair needs; perform minor maintenance.
• Inspect buildings for damage and report conditions to supervisor.
• Replace light bulbs, fuses, ceiling or floor tiles, snow and ice on stairways and walkways; sand and salt stairways.
• Move furniture and set‑up classrooms as needed.
• Perform related duties as required.
