Job summary

Wake Forest University is seeking a Custodian to perform general custodial duties across campus under supervision. You will follow established cleaning procedures and maintain clean, presentable facilities.

This role requires attention to detail, the ability to read safety procedures, work independently or with a team, and good English communication. It may involve lifting and standing for extended periods.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand safety procedures, cleaning instructions, and schedules.
• Ability to communicate effectively in the English language sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
• Ability to build and maintain an effective working relationship with students, faculty, and staff who are subtly or different than yourself.
• Ability to understand and interpret terminology related to the area of work.
• Ability to understand and follow the vision, structure, culture, philosophy, values, and code of ethics of the facilities department and Wake Forest University as a whole.
• Ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
• Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions including hazards.

Responsibilities

• Following established cleaning procedures and techniques.
• Sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors; dusting and polishing furniture and woodwork.
• Cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies.
• Empties and cleans waste and recycling receptacles; picks up paper and trash.
• Relight glass, windows, and walls.
• Cleans decks, balconies, sidewalks, offices, laundry rooms, and common space areas.
• Turns out lights and locks doors and windows.
• Maintains custodial areas and equipment so they are clean and presentable.
• Unloads supply deliveries and organizes materials.
• Launder housekeeping materials.
