Job summary

Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) is seeking a full-time Qualified Craft Worker (Carpentry) to join the Environmental & Facilities Maintenance Trades Department in Danbury, CT. The role covers a broad range of carpentry tasks to keep university facilities safe and functional across both campuses.

The position requires four years of carpentry experience with two years in skilled carpentry, and may include substitutions such as a vocational diploma.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience in the carpentry trade.
• Two (2) years of the General Experience performing skilled carpentry trades.
• Substitutions: vocational/technical diploma or two years trainee experience may substitute for some requirements.
• Ability to prepare estimates and keep shop records; utilize computer software.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of skilled carpentry tasks across both campuses.
• Assist in maintenance and repair of structures and fixtures.
• Contribute to safe and functional academic environment.
• Work under the Building Maintenance Supervisor and in varied conditions.
