Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University is seeking a Utility Energy Manager to lead the Energy Team and oversee the campus energy and utility systems at the Homewood Campus. You will manage budgets, drive decarbonization, and ensure compliant operations across engineering, sustainability, and facilities teams.

This role requires deep knowledge of energy management, strong leadership, and experience with EMIS, AMI, and BAS/SCADA analytics to deliver measurable energy savings and cost improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Eight years of campus energy/utilities management experience with central plants and distribution systems.
• Preference for advanced degree or PE/CEM/LEED credentials may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead Energy Team and manage utilities portfolio to optimize reliability, efficiency, and cost.
• Oversee central plants, metering, and controls to meet energy targets and budgets.
• Drive campus decarbonization milestones toward 2040 goals in collaboration with Sustainability.
• Ensure compliance through permits, energy codes, and reporting; coordinate audits.
• Develop business cases and monitor KPIs; report outcomes to stakeholders.
• Coordinate incentives, grants, and procurement with Finance and Procurement.
