Job summary

SEI's Energize Colleges Program, in partnership with College of the Sequoias, seeks Energy and Electrification Interns. This paid internship offers hands-on experience on sustainability and energy-efficiency projects on campus, with a focus on learning through real-world tasks.

You must be a College of the Sequoias student, able to commit 12–15 hours per week for 150 hours across March 2026 to May 2026, and to work on-site under qualified electrical staff.

Qualifications

• Be a currently enrolled student at College of the Sequoias.
• Interest in energy efficiency and sustainability.
• Foundational knowledge in energy sector or building sciences.
• Organized self-starter with strong time-management skills.
• Knowledge of climate change and energy efficiency.
• Ability to commit to 12-15 hours per week.
• Be able to provide a valid W-9 form, identification and work authorization.
• Must be 18 years or older to apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist the College electrician with energy-efficiency projects across campus facilities.
• Inspect lighting, electrical equipment, and controls to identify efficiency opportunities.
• Assist with LED lighting upgrades and other energy-saving improvements.
• Collect and document energy-use data to support evaluations.
• Support preventive maintenance of electrical and energy-related equipment.
• Troubleshoot basic electrical and energy-efficiency issues following safety codes.
• Maintain records of completed work and energy-efficiency improvements.
• Work on-site in-office setting under supervision.
