Job summary

South Dakota State University’s University Police Department in Brookings, SD is hiring two Communications Specialists for 12-month, full-time roles. You will operate a multi-line communications system, dispatch law enforcement and emergency personnel, monitor alarms and video systems, and provide customer service to the public.

Must be a US citizen, 18+, authorized to work in the United States, and willing to work rotating shifts including nights and holidays.

Qualifications

• Operates a multi-line communications system and dispatches personnel.
• Provides customer service to the public and coordinates information.
• Knowledge of basic law enforcement and emergency response procedures.
• Proficient with computer applications and campus maps/blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Operate a multi-talk group communications system.
• Field calls and dispatch law enforcement and emergency personnel.
• Monitor patrolling activity and alarm systems.
• Monitor video and security systems and provide information to field personnel.
• Maintain logs and concise summaries of incidents.
