Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin seeks an Electrical Distribution Electrician to install, operate, maintain, and repair campus electrical distribution systems. Work includes MV/LV switchgear, underground cables, and elevated structures, with emphasis on safety and documentation.

On-site at UT Main Campus with 40 hours/week schedule. Required: Journeyman Electrician license and 3+ years in electric utility field; able to climb and work in various weather conditions; strong teamwork and

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in the electric utility field.
• Journeyman Electrician license with overhead and underground installation skills.
• Ability to develop accurate record drawings and equipment specifications.
• Demonstrate teamwork and strong interpersonal communication.
• Education/experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Install, operate, maintain, and repair low- and medium-voltage switchgear.
• Perform functional and diagnostic testing and service breakers.
• Accurate electronic documentation of maintenance activities in CMMS.
• Install and pull LV/MV underground cables and distribution systems.
• Climb poles and elevate work to install/repair components.
• Review design proposals for feasibility and safety compliance.
• Maintain safe working conditions and communicate effectively.
