Job summary

The State Room at Kellogg Center – Dining Services Worker is a part-time role on MSU's campus, focused on maintaining the State Room buffet and serving guests. The position runs about 30 hours weekly, with a 9-month contract and potential renewal based on operational needs.

Responsibilities include running food from the kitchen, keeping the buffet appealing, bussing dishes, cleaning, and supporting Front of House and Culinary teams as needed.

Qualifications

• Casual knowledge of food ingredients and correct preparation and serving techniques.
• One-year satisfactory experience in a food-related area or equivalent education/experience.
• Willingness to work a flexible shift.
• Personal hygiene standards consistent with sanitation rules and regulations.
• Occasional lifting of 26 to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Portion and serve food items from serving line, steam table, and over a counter.
• Prepare basic food ingredients for cooking and baking by chopping, cutting, slicing, and grinding.
• Assist cooks and bakers by combining food ingredients as directed.
• Set up serving lines and prepare food items for serving.
• Maintain proper food handling and storage techniques to ensure efficiency and minimize waste.
