Job summary

Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL, through its Campus Dining department, seeks a Food Service Manager to direct daily operations of one or more dining units, ensuring sufficient equipment, inventory and service quality to meet goals.

You will supervise staff, establish budgets, implement safety programs, train employees, and coordinate customer relations to deliver nutritious meals and a positive campus dining experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the theories, principles, methods, and procedures of professional food service management.
• Skill in directing and managing the activities of a staff.
• Administrative ability.

Responsibilities

• Directs daily operations of one or more dining units to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory, and resources to perform their jobs and meet goals and deadlines.
• Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements, and communicates them to employees.
• Supervises day-to-day work activities by delegating authority, assigning and prioritizing activities, and monitoring operating standards.
• Determines specifications for food and supplies.
• Prepares departmental budgets and directs subordinates in complying with and implementing established budgets.
• Promotes a safe work environment and ensures compliance with department policies.
