Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in K-12 and higher education campus environments. The role includes cleaning classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices and other designated areas on-site.

No high school diploma required; on-the-job training provided. Veterans and candidates with military experience encouraged to apply. This is a full-time position with responsibilities across facilities and seasonal tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and stairways.
• Sweep, mop floors, remove debris and clean spills as designated areas.
• Empty trash receptacles and maintain recycling in designated areas.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions to building systems.
• Maintain effective communication with clients and staff across shifts and management.
• Clean interior surfaces, dust furniture, fixtures, doors, windows and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces and clean tabletops in food areas.
• Move furniture and equipment as needed to clean areas.
• Clean glass partitions, windows and mirrors using appropriate cleaners.
• Perform seasonal tasks such as raking leaves or snow removal as applicable.
• Comply with safety, security, compliance and quality standards.
