Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties at a K-12 or higher education campus. You will maintain classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas, sweep and mop floors, dispose of trash, and follow safety procedures for cleaners and equipment.

No high school diploma is required and on-the-job training is provided. Preferred qualifications include prior customer service experience; ABM is a military-friendly employer encouraging veterans to apply.

Qualifications

• Basic qualifications include being 18 years or older; no experience and on-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and stairways.
• Sweep, mop floors, remove debris and clean spills.
• Empty trash and keep receptacles clean in all designated areas.
• Follow safety procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment.
• Report repairs or maintenance needs to lead cleaner or manager.
• Maintain communication with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
• Sort and separate recycling; keep desks, tables, chairs, and surfaces clean.
• Polish woodwork and metal surfaces; wipe tabletops and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets and equipment as needed for cleaning.
• Clean interior glass and windows; manage seasonal tasks like snow removal.
• Ensure restroom cleanliness and comply with standards and procedures.
