Job summary

University of Kansas is seeking a Custodian to perform routine custodial tasks across offices and classrooms, including cleaning, sanitizing, and floor care. The role supports a safe campus environment with a standard schedule of 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Applicants should be able to lift up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, and be willing to work overtime and in varying temperatures as needed. KU offers comprehensive benefits and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to bend, stoop and kneel frequently.
• Ability to work on step ladders.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed.
• Willingness to work under a variety of extreme temperatures and weather.

Responsibilities

• 40% - Office, Classroom and Facilities Maintenance: vacuuming, dusting, cleaning and sanitizing surfaces.
• 15% - Hallways, Stairways, Entrances and Exteriors: sweeping, mopping, cleaning windows and fixtures.
• 15% - Floor Maintenance: stripping, scrubbing, burnishing floors, and protecting surfaces.
• 15% - Restroom/Shower Cleaning: disinfecting sinks, toilets, polishing fixtures, restocking supplies.
• 5% - Supplies, Chemical and Equipment Maintenance: maintain tools and report malfunctions.
• 5% - Other Related Work: assist with events, emergencies, and snow removal.
• 5% - Performs other related work as assigned.
