Job summary

Southern Regional Technical College is seeking a Custodian to perform custodial maintenance of college buildings and facilities. The role involves cleaning restrooms, floors, fixtures, and surfaces, and ensuring safety and cleanliness across campus.

The position requires no prior experience and may require a valid driver’s license. The shift is Day and offers the opportunity to participate in budgeting and professional development activities within the State of Georgia system.

Responsibilities

• Service, clean, and supply restrooms
• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
• Gather and empty trash to include parking lots, exterior trash receptacles, and interior trash receptacles
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
• Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
• Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
• Steam clean or shampoo carpets
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks
• Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours or checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created
• Weed exterior grounds using hands, tools, or weed killer, and clear debris from grounds
• Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events
• Participates in assessment, planning, budgeting, and professional development activities
• Performs other duties as assigned
