Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties across classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and offices in a campus setting. You will mop floors, empty trash, dust surfaces, and maintain cleanliness according to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Prior customer service experience preferred.
• One year of prior similar work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, which may include classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, office, and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Regularly check trash receptacles, emptying as needed, in all designated areas.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager concerning repairs or additions to building systems.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with clients and staff.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling.
• Dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceiling, and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces such as wood and stainless steel.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas.
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, and mirrors.
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or seasonal tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness of restrooms.
• Comply with safety, security, and quality standards.
