Job summary

Tulane University on the Downtown Campus seeks a Custodian to perform daily cleaning of facilities, offices, classrooms and restrooms. The role covers floor care, including stripping, finishing, burnishing and carpet care; duties may include periodic maintenance tasks as assigned by the Assistant Supervisor Facilities Services.

This position is located in a non-smoking work area with opportunities to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required, in a team environment that values reliability

Qualifications

• No prior experience or training required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous custodial experience preferred
• Computer literacy beneficial

Responsibilities

• Lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 45 lbs, up and down stairs and throughout the work area.
• Climb ladders up to 6' in height and flights of stairs.
• Operate commercial cleaning machinery including rotary buffers, vacuum cleaners, pressure washers, extractors, and blowers.
• Understand and carry out verbal and written instructions with simple diagrams.
• Work independently or in group tasks.
• Maintain good communications and personal relations.
• Mandatory use of two-way radios.
• Willingness to work late evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays.
