Job summary

The University of Kansas Hutchinson Campus is seeking a custodial technician to maintain common areas, offices, classrooms and residential spaces across the KU site. The role emphasizes reliable cleaning, safe handling of materials, and service to students and staff.

You will perform routine cleaning of restrooms and facilities, support campus operations, and help with event setups while following safety procedures and training protocols.

Qualifications

• Valid Kansas drivers license or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
• Able to lift up to 20 pounds constantly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to work on ladders.
• Physical strength to stand long hours of custodial tasks.
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather, inside and outdoors.
• Willingness to work overtime or schedule changes as needed.
• Willingness to respond to after-hours emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain common areas, offices, classrooms, dormitory rooms, fitness areas and other assigned spaces.
• Vacuum, spot-clean, bonnet, and extract carpeted floors and upholstery.
• Clean and maintain hard-surface floors using established procedures and equipment.
• Dust and polish furniture and return to standard arrangements.
• Clean walls, windows, doors, blinds, fountains and other surfaces.
• Empty waste receptacles and dispose of non-hazardous waste.
• Clean and sanitize exercise equipment and mats; assist with training setup.
