Job summary

ABM is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in designated areas at K-12, college or university campus environments.

The role includes cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices and common areas, following safety procedures for cleaners and equipment, and maintaining clear communication with clients and supervisors. Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Preferred: prior customer service experience.
• Preferred: one (1) year of prior similar work experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Regularly check trash receptacles and empty as needed.
• Follow procedures for use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repair needs or building system additions.
• Maintain communication with clients, coworkers, shift coordinators, supervisors and managers.
• Sort and recycle waste into proper receptacles.
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets and equipment to access areas for cleaning.
• Clean interior partitions, windows, glass and mirrors.
• Sweep, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or perform seasonal tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness of restrooms and comply with safety and quality standards.
