Job summary

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) is seeking a dedicated custodian to perform routine housekeeping across campus facilities. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, cleaning restrooms, restocking supplies, and assisting with event setups to ensure a clean, safe environment.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to operate custodial equipment, and strong communication. Eligible for NCCU benefits and fixed schedule in a fully on-site setting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of standard cleaning and housekeeping practices.
• MSDS knowledge and safe handling.
• Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work.
• Ability to operate custodial equipment such as buffers and carpet extractors.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with quality and efficiency.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine housekeeping and custodial services to maintain clean, safe buildings.
• Perform floor care: sweeping, mopping, waxing; bathroom sanitation; trash removal.
• Replenish supplies and assist with event setup as needed.
• Move furniture and assist with snow/ice removal when required.
• Support special university events with custodial coverage.
