Job summary

The University of North Dakota is seeking a University Police Officer in a role restricted to internal candidates. The position offers a salary range of $66,000 to $72,000 per year and is non-exempt with overtime eligibility.

The officer will conduct investigations, collect evidence, prepare legal documents, and coordinate with prosecutors and other agencies. Responsibilities include patrolling UND property, enforcing laws and university policies, and providing community-oriented public safety

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED and ND peace officer certification.
• Ability to write reports, interviews, and affidavits.
• Strong communication and analytical decision-making skills.
• Ability to coordinate with prosecutors, courts and other agencies.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and manages criminal investigations on UND property or involving the UND community.
• Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects and develop leads.
• Collects, preserves, and analyzes evidence, including electronic data and physical items.
• Prepares investigation documents, warrants, subpoenas, and probable cause statements.
• Coordinates with prosecutors and outside agencies and prepares cases for prosecution.
• Maintains complete case files and testifies in court.
