Job summary

The University Police-0823 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a commissioned Police Officer to patrol campus, enforce laws and traffic regulations, and conduct investigations. You will gather evidence, testify in hearings, and ensure the safety of university properties and citizens on campus.

Qualifications

  • Must successfully pass physical, psychological and polygraph exams.
  • Minimum age 21 years.
  • Ability to meet, communicate and work with general public effectively and react calmly in emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol University property on foot or by vehicle to prevent and discover crimes.
  • Enforce state laws, city ordinances and traffic regulations.
  • Conduct criminal investigations, gather evidence, obtain witnesses and make arrests.
  • Provide documentation and testimony to Judicial Board and courts.
  • Provide general security for University properties and citizens on campus.

Minimum Required Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalency. Ability to meet, communicate and work with general public effectively and to react calmly, quickly and accurately in emergency situations essential. Must successfully pass physical, psychological and polygraph exams, as well a Basic Training Academy as provided or approved by Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center. Minimum age 21 years.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior law enforcement experience preferred.
