Job summary

Aramark is seeking a Cook for James Madison University - East Campus Dining Hall in Harrisonburg, VA. You'll prepare a variety of dishes, follow recipes, and help maintain safety and quality standards on site.

Responsibilities include setting up stations, measuring ingredients, and working with kitchen equipment while delivering friendly service to guests. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and culinary creativity in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as a cook or in a related role.
• Knowledge of basic food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations.
• Must be able to acquire food safety certification.
• Demonstrates basic math and counting skills.
• Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare a variety of foods according to production guidelines and recipes.
• Set up workstation with needed ingredients and equipment.
• Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling.
• Safely use utensils including knives.
• Operate ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers and other equipment.
• Bake, roast, broil, steam, and cook with various methods.
• Arrange, garnish, and portion food per guidelines.
• Store food properly following safety policies and procedures.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor toward guests and co-workers.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure security of company assets.
