Job summary

Auburn University Facilities Management is seeking a Construction Technician with roofing and maintenance expertise to support campus construction, repair, and upkeep. The role involves various trades across buildings, streets, and sidewalks, with opportunities to focus on in-house construction, infrastructure, or roofing depending on needs.

Responsibilities include leading carpentry tasks, roofing maintenance, concrete work, and site prep.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience in carpentry, roofing, road repair, and/or concrete forming/finishing is preferred.
Candidates should be dependable and safety-conscious.
Internal candidates may require training per policy.

Responsibilities

Performs and leads carpentry tasks and installations including foundations, framing, drywall, ceilings, flooring, windows, doors, and roofs in university buildings and structures.
Demonstrates knowledge of roofing methods and leads minor repairs to prevent leaks.
Forms, pours, and finishes cement structures; handles concrete work and site layout.
Assists with setup and removal of barricades and other dividers; may pressure wash roofs and sidewalks.
Operates heavy equipment as needed for renovations and construction projects.
Plans and leads excavation and demolition work; paints surfaces and prepares for finishing.
Demonstrates proper demolition of structures and patches holes and cracks in surfaces.
Ensures completion of individual projects including logistics, cleanliness, and client support.
