Job summary

Auburn University Facilities Management is seeking a skilled Construction Technician to support construction, repair, and upkeep of campus buildings, streets, sidewalks, and grounds. The role may focus on in‑house construction, infrastructure, or roofing depending on needs and expertise.

Ideal candidates will have roofing experience, carpentry skills, and a commitment to safe workmanship. Responsibilities span from planning and leading roofing repairs to heavy equipment operation and site layout

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License.
• 4 years of experience in carpentry, roofing, road repair, and/or concrete forming and finishing (Level II).
• Prior roofing experience (Desired).

Responsibilities

• Performs and leads carpentry tasks including layout, foundations, form carpentry, framing, drywall, ceilings, flooring, windows, doors, and roofs in university buildings.
• Plans, schedules, and leads minor roof repairs and maintenance to prevent leaks and damage.
• Forms, pours, and finishes concrete; layout and measurement of sites.
• Sets up barricades, fences, and other dividers across campus; may pressure wash roofs, buildings, and sidewalks.
• Operates heavy equipment including backhoes, forklifts, skid steers, and cranes.
• Plans excavation and demolition work for renovation and construction projects.
• Leads painting of surfaces and prepares surfaces for paint or finishes.
• Demonstrates knowledge of demolition of structures and related systems as needed.
• Patches holes and cracks on university streets with proper materials and methods.
• Manages individual project completion, logistics, cleanliness, and client support.
