Job summary

University of Texas at Austin is seeking a creative, organized Work-Study Student Associate to support communications and marketing for the Psychology Department. You will help develop content for newsletters, websites, and social media, and assist with event promotion and outreach.

You will coordinate with the Senior Communications Manager on content development, digital assets, and website updates, gaining hands-on experience in higher education communications and branding.

Qualifications

• Current UT Austin student eligible for Federal Work-Study.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Professional judgment and willingness to ask questions when clarification is needed.
• Substitution of education/experience may be considered where appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Assist with developing content for newsletters, websites, social media, email communications, and other departmental channels.
• Draft and edit event announcements and promotional copy.
• Research and compile information for departmental stories, announcements, and faculty achievements.
• Support creation and organization of digital assets, including photos and marketing materials.
• Assist with planning and execution of departmental events, lectures, workshops and conferences.
• Coordinate event logistics, including room setup, registration materials, AV support, and attendee check‑in.
• Set up catering, signage, and event materials; assist with post‑event documentation.
• Support event promotion via email campaigns, social media, signage, flyers, and other channels.
• Review website content for accuracy and updates; create/update pages and graphics.
