Job summary

California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) seeks a Clinical Counselor to join the Student Health & Counseling Services as a full-time, 12-month SSP-AR II, providing short-term therapy, triage, outreach, and crisis services to students. The role includes supervision of interns and participation in a multidisciplinary team.

Preference will be given to applicants with a doctoral degree in psychology, California licensure or eligibility, and experience serving diverse campus communities.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Psychologist in California, or eligible for California licensure within one year of start date.
• Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-Accredited program.
• Commitment to working with clients from diverse cultural, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Generalist clinical skills include short-term/time-limited, evidence-based modalities, and crisis intervention.
• Ability to work as a team member in a stressful environment.
• Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize clinical caseload.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• CSU Out-of-State EmploymentPolicy requires work in California.

Responsibilities

• Provide short-term individual, couple, and group therapy.
• Conduct triage, outreach, consultation, and crisis counseling.
• Provide clinical supervision to interns and practicum students.
• Participate in a multidisciplinary treatment team and make appropriate referrals.
• Consult with faculty, staff and community as needed.
