Job summary

The University of Lynchburg seeks a Maintenance Technician – Carpentry to lead structural repair and finish carpentry across campus. You will fabricate and install cabinetry, doors, frames, and trim while coordinating with electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians.

This full-time on-site role requires 3–5 years journeyman carpentry, a valid driver's license, OSHA training preferred, and proficiency with CMMS for work orders, time logs, and material costs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive journeyman-level experience in commercial, residential, or institutional carpentry.
  • Collaborative experience working with other core building trades (electrical, plumbing, or HVAC).
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record.
  • Proficiency with digital tools or software for tracking tasks or work requests.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural repair, alteration, and aesthetic maintenance of all campus facilities.
  • Fabricate, install, and repair cabinetry, doors, frames, drywall, and architectural trim across historic and modern buildings.
  • Collaborate with Electricians, Plumbers, and HVAC Technicians to diagnose issues and execute complex repairs.
  • Utilize CMMS to track, update, and close work orders, logging labor hours and material costs.
  • Participate in campus event setup and standby after-hours for emergencies.
