Job summary

Ball State University is hiring an Administration Building Security Officer to safeguard the campus, monitor access, and support a safe, service-oriented environment for students, faculty, and staff.

In this non-sworn role, you will conduct patrols, respond to incidents, manage visitor inquiries, and coordinate with university police and facilities staff. A minimum of 18 months of post-high school education and at least one year in security or related fields are required.

Qualifications

• At least 18 months of education beyond high school or equivalent.
• One year of experience in security, safety, customer service, facilities operations, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism in a variety of situations.
• Basic computer and technology skills.
• Must pass a polygraph test pre-offer.
• Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations appropriately.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective during stressful or emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and patrol the Administration Building to ensure safety and security.
• Verify identification and credentials of employees, visitors, contractors, and vendors.
• Respond to non-emergency incidents and prepare accurate incident reports.
• Provide information, directions, and assistance to students, employees, and visitors.
• Collaborate with campus police and facilities personnel.
