Qualifications

• Must have a minimum 1st Class B State of Minnesota boiler license.
• Thorough knowledge of operation and maintenance of high pressure boilers, furnaces, mechanical systems and equipment in a steam generation plant.
• Responsible for operation, maintenance and repair of high pressure steam boilers and plant on assigned shift; maintenance of steam plant.
• Cooperative working relationship with tradesmen, faculty, staff, students and public; strong verbal communication.
• Follow safety rules and regulations to prevent injury and illness.
• Lifting, stair and ladder climbing involved.

Responsibilities

• Operate Heating Plant to provide campus steam and monitor Energy Management System.
• Cover other stationary engineer shifts when vacations and sick leave occur.
• Make changes to scheduled events and set points as required.
• Represent the university professionally and emphasize customer satisfaction.
• Work in accordance with Minnesota State Boiler and Pressure Vessel codes.
• Answer emergency calls and call maintenance personnel for overtime when needed.
• Essential during disasters; report for duty as directed by supervisor.
