Job summary

Ball State University is seeking a University Architect to lead campus planning, architectural direction, and design standards. You will oversee design efforts across projects, ensuring alignment with the Campus Master Plan, standards, and budget needs.

The role requires strong leadership, collaboration with project managers, and expertise in AIA-based contracts and design administration. On-campus, full-time with excellent benefits and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
• Licensed architect in any U.S. jurisdiction, with ability to obtain Indiana registration within twelve months.
• At least ten years of progressively responsible architecture/facility planning experience.
• Experience developing/reviewing project scopes, feasibility studies, and design documents.
• Experience working with architects, engineers, contractors, and project managers.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the University's lead architectural advisor and design steward for campus buildings and spaces.
• Support Campus Master Plan implementation through planning decisions.
• Provide architectural and engineering design oversight for university projects.
• Coordinate with project managers and external design professionals to meet university standards.
• Review design milestones from concept to construction documents.
• Advise on design contract structures and template modifications.
