Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI seeks an accomplished engineer to coordinate Internal ICE Powertrain - Thermal Systems (IPTSE) with CCRG and EPRC, ensuring the right IPTSE team supports critical safety and emission reviews. You will drive root-cause analyses and cross-functional leadership to influence safety decisions, recalls, and regulatory actions.

Expect collaboration with Design, Manufacturing, STA, OGC, and plant teams, guiding data-driven investigations and technical recommendations

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Systems, Environmental, or related field.
• 10+ years in automotive product development, quality or regulatory roles.
• Strong understanding of powertrain, electrical, chassis, software, or emissions systems.
• Experience with root-cause methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Six Sigma, Fishbone, FTA).

• Maintain IPTSE GRID database and ensure IPTSE team is assigned to support.
• Lead technical investigations into potential safety defects, FMVSS non-compliance, and emission/regulatory concerns.
• Prepare data packages, risk assessments, and engineering recommendations for CCRG and EPRC.
• Collaborate with Design Eng, Manufacturing, STA, OGC, and plant vehicle teams to align corrective actions.

Ford Motor Company is seeking a highly analytical, collaborative, and detail-oriented engineer to coordinate Internal ICE Powertrain - Thermal Systems (IPTSE) interface with Critical Concern Review Group (CCRG), and the Emission/Environmental Problem Review Committee (EPRC). In this critical role, you will ensure the correct IPTSE team is assigned to support the Critical Concern Review Group (CCRG), and the Emission/Environmental Problem Review Committee (EPRC).

You will provide problem solving support into potential vehicle safety, compliance, and emissions-related issues. Your engineering expertise, data-driven root cause analyses, and cross-functional leadership will directly influence decisions regarding Stop Ships, Field Service Actions (FSAs), and product recalls. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering, regulatory policy, and corporate governance, protecting both our customers and Ford’s brand reputation.

What you'll do...

• Manage IPTSE GRID Database: Maintain list of IPTSE GRID items ensuring IPTSE team is assigned to support
• Technical Investigation & Root Cause Analysis: For select projects lead and coordinate technical investigations into potentially critical safety defects, FMVSS non-compliance, and emission/environmental regulatory concerns. Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, FTA) to identify root causes.
• CCRG & EPRC Interface: Support IPTSE teams in preparing and presenting technical data packages, risk assessments, and engineering recommendations to the CCRG (for safety/compliance) and EPRC (for emissions/environmental concerns).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), Office of General Counsel (OGC), and plant vehicle teams to gather data, review supplier processes, and align on corrective actions.

You'll have...

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Systems, Environmental, or a related engineering discipline).
• Experience: 10+ years of experience in automotive product development, quality engineering, systems engineering, or regulatory compliance.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of vehicle systems (powertrain, electrical, chassis, software, or emissions control systems).
• Problem Solving: Demonstrated experience in automotive root-cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 8D, Shainin, Six Sigma, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis).
• Communication & Influence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to distill complex technical data into clear, concise presentations for executive leadership and regulatory review boards.
• Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams under tight timelines.

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $115,500-$218,100. Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
