Job summary

YMCA of Greater San Francisco is seeking a Camp Program Coordinator to support the Camp Director in overseeing daily camp operations and programming, including Resident Camp, Family Camp, and other youth and family programs.

You will manage multiple program areas, supervise staff, ensure camper safety, and maintain program quality. Responsibilities include staff training, program planning, activity facilitation, and logistics coordination.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience working with youth.
  • 1+ year of experience in a resident camp setting.
  • Creativity and expertise in areas such as arts, culture, health, fitness, or the outdoors.
  • Advanced proficiency in supervising and mentoring youth and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and deliver engaging, safe, and inclusive camp programs and activities such as archery, canoeing, ropes, hiking, and team-building.
  • Plan and coordinate camp-wide events that meet the needs of various age groups and participants.
  • Evaluate and improve programs to enhance participation, accessibility, and quality. Staff supervision and development: supervise and mentor program and camp staff, providing ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Lead or assist in staff training focused on leadership, camper engagement, and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to share updates, gather feedback, and support collaboration.

Position Summary

  • Overseeanddeliverengaging,safe,andinclusivecampprogramsandactivitiessuch as archery, canoeing, ropes, hiking, and team-building.
  • Planandcoordinatecamp-wideeventsthatmeettheneedsofvariousagegroups and participants.

Complianceand Safety

  • Keepcertificationscurrentandensurestaffmeetrequiredtraining standards.
Qualifications
  • 2+yearsofexperienceworkingwith youth.
  • 1+yearsofexperienceworkinginaresidentcamp setting.
  • Creativityandexpertiseinareassuchasarts,culture,health,fitness,orthe outdoors.
  • Advancedproficiencyinsupervisingandmentoringyouthand staff.
  • Demonstratedabilitytoworkeffectivelywithindividualsofdiverseages,backgrounds, and experiences.
  • Strongleadership,interpersonal,andproblem-solvingskills,includingactivelistening, empathy, and accountability.

This role is primarily outdoors, requiring physical stamina, mobility, and the ability to lift equipment, lead activities, and assist campers as needed. Extended periods of standing, walking, and participation in physical activities are expected. Flexibility is required for long, variablehours,includingovernightshifts.Mealsandlodgingareprovidedforthedurationof the summer camp program.
