Job summary

Donlin Gold is seeking an experienced Camp Manager to lead and oversee all remote camp operations in support of a major mining project in Alaska. You will manage accommodations, food services, housekeeping, logistics, inventory, and workforce services to ensure safe, efficient operations for employees, contractors, and visitors on site.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in camp operations, hospitality management, industrial operations, facility management, or related field.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience required.

Salary Range: $125,000.00 To $200,000.00 Annually

Help Support the Success of a World-Class Mining Project

Donlin Gold is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Camp Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of remote camp operations that support one of the most significant mining developments in North America. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality camp services that support employees, contractors, and visitors working at site.

The Camp Manager is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and continuous improvement of camp operations, including accommodations, food services, housekeeping, janitorial services, logistics support, facility management, inventory control, and workforce services. This role provides leadership to camp personnel while ensuring compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with excellent organizational skills, a commitment to customer service, and the ability to manage complex operations in a remote and fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do
Camp Operations
  • Direct, coordinate, and oversee all daily camp operations and support services.
  • Manage accommodations, room assignments, occupancy tracking, arrivals, departures, and visitor coordination.
  • Oversee food service operations, housekeeping, janitorial services, laundry services, recreation facilities, and common areas.
  • Ensure camp facilities, equipment, and operational areas are maintained in a safe, clean, organized, and functional condition.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules, operational priorities, and service delivery to support site operations.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels for food, consumables, linens, personal protective equipment, and operational supplies.
  • Coordinate logistics and operational support with procurement, transportation providers, vendors, contractors, and site departments.
  • Support emergency preparedness planning and business continuity initiatives.
Leadership & Supervision
  • Supervise, mentor, and support camp staff, including supervisors, cooks, kitchen personnel, housekeeping staff, janitorial staff, and administrative personnel.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, training, and performance management to camp employees.
  • Participate in recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, employee development, and corrective action processes.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Conduct staff meetings, operational reviews, and training sessions as needed.
  • Promote accountability, professionalism, and exceptional customer service throughout camp operations.
Operational Planning & Reporting
  • Monitor camp occupancy, staffing levels, supply usage, and operational performance metrics.
  • Utilize operational data and reporting tools to identify trends, improve efficiency, and support informed decision-making.
  • Resolve operational issues promptly to minimize disruptions to camp services and site operations.
  • Prepare and maintain reports related to camp operations, inventory, staffing, incidents, inspections, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with budget preparation, expenditure tracking, and cost-control initiatives.
  • Review departmental purchases and operational spending to ensure budget compliance and operational effectiveness.
Safety, Compliance & Environmental Stewardship
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure camp personnel adhere to established safety expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation, food safety, environmental, health, and occupational safety standards.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, incident investigations, safety meetings, and corrective action processes.
  • Maintain records related to inspections, certifications, training, incidents, and compliance requirements.
  • Support compliance with MSHA, OSHA, DOT, and other applicable regulations.
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, Human Resources, procurement, logistics, and site leadership to support workforce and operational needs.
  • Coordinate contractor and vendor activities related to camp operations and facility services.
  • Assist with workforce accommodations, travel coordination, and rotational scheduling support.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization efforts.
What You’ll Bring
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in camp operations, hospitality management, industrial operations, facility management, or a related field.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience required.
  • Experience managing operational logistics, workforce scheduling, staffing, and inventory systems.
  • Experience in mining, remote camp, oil and gas, construction, or other industrial environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of remote workforce accommodations and rotational camp operations preferred.
  • Food safety, sanitation, hospitality, CPR, or First Aid certifications are beneficial.
  • Experience with ERP systems, camp management software, or inventory management systems is an asset.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and operational reporting systems.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and implement process improvements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing operational demands in a remote environment.
