Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking a Resident Camp Cook to assist the Food Services Director in camp kitchen operations for staff and guests. You will work with our kitchen team on food prep, dishwashing, and maintaining cleanliness, with training provided and supervision by the Food Services Director.

This part-time, shift-based role requires food safety knowledge, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and the Washington State Food Handlers Card. Shifts vary, including some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Current Washington State Food Handlers Card.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to understand and communicate basic directions verbally in English.
• At hire or at earliest possible training.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge about food safety and follow all food and safety regulations.
• Prepare and serve food to guests and staff.
• Transport food and supplies as needed.
• Ensure proper rotation of food and supplies.
• Maintain temperature logs.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness.
• Maintain security of kitchen.
• Report the need for any equipment repair to the Food Services Director.
• Relate to county health officials, food suppliers, guests, and staff in a positive and productive manner.
• May supervise food service personnel as directed during Food Services Director's absence.
• Attend kitchen staff meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
