Job summary

MATRIX is seeking a Camp Kitchen Attendant to support remote camp operations across Canada. This role involves food preparation, sanitation, and meal service in a remote setting, with a 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off rotation.

You must be physically able to lift 50 lbs, work long shifts, and communicate effectively with the team and Camp Manager. This position offers stable employment in a drug-free workplace with nationwide remote camps.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a remote camp kitchen.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Able to work 10–12 hour shifts.
• Rotation schedule availability required.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe work practices and safe job procedures at all times.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping in work areas.
• Attend daily toolbox meetings.
• Dishwashing per the Food Safety Plan.
• Clean and sanitize surfaces, equipment, and wares.
• Support food-safe storage and labeling, including allergy items.
• Keep food storage areas organized and compliant.
• Cold food preparation and assembly while maintaining temperature controls.

Camp Kitchen Attendant (Remote) – Canada (Multiple Locations)

Schedule: 3 Weeks On / 3 Weeks Off (Fully Remote)
Location: Remote camps across Canada (various locations)

We are currently seeking an experienced Camp Kitchen Attendant to join our team at one of our remote exploration camps across Canada. If you’re team-oriented, reliable, detail-focused, and ready to work independently with strong standards—this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will perform essential kitchen and sanitation duties in a safe, timely, and organized manner, including:

• Follow safe work practices and safe job procedures at all times
• Report all incidents and accidents immediately
• Maintain excellent housekeeping in your work areas at all times
• Attend and participate in daily toolbox meetings
• Complete dishwashing in accordance with the Food Safety Plan
• Clean and sanitize surfaces, equipment, and small wares per the Food Safety Plan and COVID protocols
• Support food-safe storage and labeling, including attention to food allergy items
• Keep food storage areas organized and compliant
• Clean and sanitize the Dry Area
• Cold food preparation, including salads and sandwiches, in accordance with the Food Safety Plan
• Prepare and assemble cold items while maintaining required temperature control and food safety standards

Required Knowledge & Experience

To be considered, you must have:

• Minimum 2 years working in a remote camp as a Camp/Kitchen Attendant
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
• Good communication skills
• Highly motivated and team-oriented with a high attention to detail
• Ability to work a rotation schedule
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs minimum
• Ability to lift/move heavy objects, and stand/walk for long periods
• Ability to maintain a high level of performance during a 10–12 hour shift
• Availability to start immediately or on short notice
